The NDIS is designed to enable children with a disability to access services that will empower them to achieve their goals and engage in meaningful and purposeful occupations.​

​If eligible for NDIS, your child will receive funding on an annual basis to access services to support your child to grow, learn and achieve their goals.​

The Chronic Disease Management Plan can be accessed through your GP. It entitles your child to up to 5 sessions per calendar year with an allied health professional. To be eligible for this plan, your child's medical condition must be considered chronic, meaning it has been present for at least 6 months and they have needs in more than one area.

The Helping Children with Autism plan provides funding towards 4 assessment sessions with any health professional to assist in the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD). This plan must be in place by the child's 13th birthday. Following a diagnosis, a child can access up to 20 further sessions with any health professional, up until their 15th birthday.

Dependent on your level of cover, you may be able to use private health funds for your child's occupational therapy sessions. Please contact your private health insurer directly for further information regarding your entitlements.
